Teleperformance and UNI Global Union signed a global agreement on social responsibility

  • On 1 December 2022, Teleperformance and UNI Global Union signed a global agreement with commitments on freedom of association, health and safety, content moderation, and positive relations.
  • The agreement covers the company’s 440,000 employees in 88 countries worldwide.

French digital business solutions group Teleperformance confirmed its commitment to social responsibility, guaranteeing freedom of association and complying with due diligence obligations in a ‘concerted desire for progress in the field of the working environment, particularly in health and safety.’

Social partners agreed to strengthen shared commitments to workers’ rights to form trade unions and engage in collective bargaining.

Parties also confirmed health and safety and workplace monitoring as crucial issues to be discussed and implemented.

The agreement is based on recognizing labour rights according to the International Labour Organization and respecting the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

The agreement’s implementation initially focused on Colombia, Poland, Jamaica, El Salvador, and Romania.

In Colombia in October 2022, the US magazine Time published reports of reprisals following attempts to create a union within the company.

Therefore, reaching a global agreement marks a significant step in social dialogue and opens the way to fruitful labour relations.

In the press release, Daniel Julien, Chairman and CEO of Teleperformance, said: “Since the Group’s foundation, we have been focused on being a responsible and transparent company with a constant focus on safety and well-being of all our employees worldwide. The agreement signed with UNI will bring a complementary framework to further enhance our practices for the benefit of all our employees.”
