Clariane Signs its European Charter for Social Dialogue with the Members of the European Company Committee and the European Federation of Public Services

  • On 25 October 2023, the Managing Director of Clariane, the European Company Committee (CE-SE) Secretary, and the European Federation of Public Services (EPSU) signed the European Charter of Fundamental Principles of Social Dialogue in Paris.
  • The Charter stresses the value of social dialogue and collective bargaining and promotes and guarantees freedom of association for all employees in the workplace.

The social partners started negotiations in April 2023, aiming to adopt a document reflecting the Company's values and its principles of inclusive governance. They established a constructive and collaborative approach during six months of discussions and negotiations. The Charter is based on ILO Conventions n. 87 and n. 98 on freedom of association and collective bargaining and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Companies

It confirms the Company's commitment to ensuring social dialogue at all levels (facility, national, and group), including issuing information to employees and consulting them before a decision, also through representation bodies to be set up.

The Company has also committed to training managers in effective social dialogue and managing social issues, making them responsible for correctly applying the principles of the Charter.

It was signed at the European level for four years and will be implemented globally within six months of its signature. The European Clariane Company Committee will monitor its implementation, with a first evaluation in November 2024.

The press release states: "The promotion of social dialogue as a lever of progress in support of corporate strategy and the welfare of its employees is a priority for Clariane." Sophie Boissard, Chief Executive Officer of Clariane, commented: “This first agreement lays the foundations for an ambitious social dialogue, which supports our mission commitments and enables everyone to be heard and to make progress in collective bargaining”.
