France: La Poste group launches its Data and AI School

  • In 2022, La Poste created a data and artificial intelligence (AI) division that combines the knowledge of 400 experts in data and AI and constitutes one of the five main players in the sector in France.
  • Considering the growing shortage of candidates trained in these professions, La Poste recently launched its Data and AI School, based on two values: ethics and inclusion.

Digital transformation, the development of digital trust services and digital inclusion are strategic priorities for the La Poste Group. To pursue innovation in the service of its customers, the company has identified significant recruitment needs in the data and AI professions and decided to found its own school.

The Data and AI School aims to train up to 250 candidates per year over the next three years in four key professions: data product owner, data analyst, data engineer and data scientist.

The company considers it essential to support developments in current technologies to be able to anticipate future AI regulations in a framework that respects the use of personal data. Therefore, students of the School of Data and AI will benefit from courses in ethical AI.

Moreover, the Group wants to achieve parity between man and women's promotions over the next five years: “we had the idea of creating a school dedicated to data and AI in which we will pay particular attention to ensuring that parity is respected”, said Nathalie Collin, Deputy General Manager of the group in charge of the Consumer and Digital branch.

The school offers qualifying training lasting from 3 to 12 months, during which internal candidates will benefit from personalised training integrating missions within the La Poste group. External candidates will follow a work-study course and develop their operational skills by working directly with the company.

The school has already tested its program with a first pilot promotion made up of 36 employees internally and five work-study students externally in data analyst and data engineer jobs.
