Mental Health at work: Policy brief

The policy brief provides actions for governments, employers, employers’ and workers’ organisations, civil society, and health service planners to prevent work-related mental health conditions, protect and promote mental health at work, and support workers with mental health conditions.

It aims to support stakeholders in the world of work to fulfil their respective roles in taking action to improve mental health at work.

The report also highlights that employers’ and workers’ organisations are key partners for action on mental health at all levels, from the national level to the workplace, and governments should consult them in designing and implementing OSH policies, strategies, and laws aimed at improving mental health at work.

On 10 October 2022, on World Mental Health Day, IOE published a short brief for employers, offering an introduction to why mental health in the workplace matters and the elements needed to address the issue. 

It stresses that a safe and healthy working environment supports mental health, and good mental health enables people to work productively and safely.
