HR Services Create Alliance to Safely Go Back to Work

  • CEOs from three global HR services companies join forces in an Alliance to pool health and safety guidelines, processes and protocols across sectors and countries that help prepare for the “new normal” in the world of work.
  • The initiative is a global call for companies, employers’ organisations, workers, trade unions and institutions and governments to join the Alliance.

Three staffing companies: the Adecco Group, Manpower Group and Randstad NV launch an initiative to shine a light on how to collectively prepare for the “new normal” in the world of work. In an open letter published on 16 April 2020, the CEOs of these companies highlighted that “[w]e believe urgent action is needed to be fully prepared to get people safely back to work when the moment is right. Timing this accurately is crucial for the economy. The right timing will differ per country and sector and relies on learnings from the waves and stages of the pandemic across the world”. As a result, an HR services Alliance was formed based on the collaboration and coordination with diverse stakeholder groups, including employers, trade unions and NGOs, with the support of governments. The Alliance offers best practices on health and safety guidelines, processes and protocols to fit with the “temporary physical distancing economy” and to support both employees and employers. The Alliance, currently rolled out in 16 countries, offers a set of resources, among them a Practical guide to a Safe Restart, featuring notably an adapted version of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) hierarchy of controls to define the levels of risk (Graphic below).
